This course aims to enhance your understanding of damage mechanisms and their impact on mechanical integrity in facilities. It provides an overview of API RP 571, Damage Mechanisms Affecting Fixed Equipment in the Refining Industry—the industry's primary resource on damage mechanisms.
The course covers reactor effluent cooler (REAC) systems, a very dangerous system in oil refineries. You will also gain a better understanding of two dangerous damage mechanisms: sulfidation and high temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA). Additionally, the course covers damage mechanisms affecting Amine Units, a comparison of inspection compliance programs with inspection excellence programs, and a brief overview of the most pervasive damage mechanism in our industry: external corrosion.
